Here are some pictures of the lapbook about “The Human Body Systems” and the information that appears in each organ:


Brain

Its like a computer of our body. It controls everything we do. Sometimes this is involuntary and other times are voluntary.

Nerves

Nerves carry messages from the brain to the locomotor system

Spinal Cord

Its made up of nerves. It encloses the ventral canal of the spinal cord. The brain and the spinal cord make up the central nervous system.

Skull

It protects the brain

Ribs

They protect the lungs and the heart

Muscles

Work with bones and joints together

Joints

They allow our body to bend and move

Bones

Protect important organs

Mouth

Food is broken up by the teeth and mixed with saliva by the tongue

Esophagus

Food goes down this tube the stomach

Stomach

Gastric juices wake the food into a thick liquid

Small Intestines

There are lots of blood vessels. Nutrients pass into the blood there.

Large Intestine

 The waste passes through here. Water goes out into the body and the waste becomes harder.

Anus

The waste (faeces), leaves the body

Kidneys

When the blood goes through here. Excess water and waste products are dropped off and made into urine

Ureters

The urine goes down these tubes to the bladder

Urethra

The urine leaves the body through this tube

Bladder

The urine is stored here. When its full it sends a message to our brain.

Veins

Blood vessels that return blood to the heart from the rest of the body

Heart

It’s a hollow muscle. It pumps blood around the body

Arteries

Blood vessels that carry blood from the heart to the rest of our body

Nostrils

The nose has two nostrils. These have lots of little hairs and are narrow at the back. This is to stop foreign objects.

Trachea

It divides into two tubes that go into the lungs. These tubes are called bronchi.

Lungs

They are big sacks. They fill up almost all your chest. They are squidgy. They are made up of lots of little bugs called “alveoli” surrounded by blood capillaries. The air goes into the alveoli’s.

Ovaries

They produce the egg cells

Fallopian Tubes

They transport male sperm cells to the egg. They transport the egg from the ovary.

Uterus

Its main function is to nourish the developing fetus prior to birth.

Vagina

It’s a muscular tube leading from the external genitals to the uterus

Testicles

They produce sperm in men

Urethra

It conveys semen

Penis

It carries the duct for the transfer of sperm during copulation. It’s also used for urination.
