Here are some pictures of
the lapbook about “The Human Body Systems” and the information that appears in
each organ:
Brain |
Its like a computer of our body.
It controls everything we do. Sometimes this is involuntary and other times
are voluntary. |
Nerves |
Nerves carry messages from the brain to the
locomotor system |
Spinal Cord |
Its made up of nerves. It encloses
the ventral canal of the spinal cord. The brain and the spinal cord make up
the central nervous system. |
Skull |
It protects the brain |
Ribs |
They protect the lungs and the
heart |
Muscles |
Work with bones and joints
together |
Joints |
They allow our body to bend and
move |
Bones |
Protect important organs |
Mouth |
Food is broken up by the teeth and
mixed with saliva by the tongue |
Esophagus |
Food goes down this tube the
stomach |
Stomach |
Gastric juices wake the food into
a thick liquid |
Small Intestines |
There are lots of blood vessels.
Nutrients pass into the blood there. |
Large Intestine |
The waste passes through here. Water goes
out into the body and the waste becomes harder. |
Anus |
The waste (faeces), leaves the
body |
Kidneys |
When the blood goes through here.
Excess water and waste products are dropped off and made into urine |
Ureters |
The urine goes down these tubes to
the bladder |
Urethra |
The urine leaves the body through
this tube |
Bladder |
The urine is stored here. When its
full it sends a message to our brain. |
Veins |
Blood vessels that return blood to
the heart from the rest of the body |
Heart |
It’s a hollow muscle. It pumps
blood around the body |
Arteries |
Blood vessels that carry blood
from the heart to the rest of our body |
Nostrils |
The nose has two nostrils. These
have lots of little hairs and are narrow at the back. This is to stop foreign
objects. |
Trachea |
It divides into two tubes that go
into the lungs. These tubes are called bronchi. |
Lungs |
They are big sacks. They fill up
almost all your chest. They are squidgy. They are made up of lots of little
bugs called “alveoli” surrounded by blood capillaries. The air goes into the
alveoli’s. |
Ovaries |
They produce the egg cells |
Fallopian Tubes |
They transport male sperm cells to
the egg. They transport the egg from the ovary. |
Uterus |
Its main function is to nourish
the developing fetus prior to birth. |
Vagina |
It’s a muscular tube leading from
the external genitals to the uterus |
Testicles |
They produce sperm in men |
Urethra |
It conveys semen |
