Read these tips on how to write, think about them and put them into practice in your next writing!

TIPS FOR WRITING

 

Content - Did you write what you were asked to write?

- Make sure you talk about the topic which you were asked about.

 

Communicative achievement - Was your writing too formal, too informal, or just right?

- Take into consideration that in formal writings you cannot use contractions.

- Use short sentences. This way, it will be easier to understand you.

 

Organisation - Did you link paragraphs and sentences? Is there a logical flow from start to finish?

- Answer the questions in order (the same as they explain you in the instructions if you are able to).

- Use needed words (not more nor less than permitted).

 

Language - Did you show off your sparkling vocabulary or did you use basic words? Did you make lots of grammar and spelling mistakes?

- Remember using different structures for introducing different paragraphs, ideas, opinions, facts…

- Use synonyms.

- Use the right tenses and show, if possible, variety.

- Try to finish with a quote, moral, idea which summarizes your opinion, fun facts…
